These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Rising Minds website and the counselling and psychotherapy services provided by Erica Harris (“Rising Minds”, “we”, “us”). By using this website or booking a session, you agree to these Terms.
About Rising Minds & scope of practice
Rising Minds provides online (virtual) counselling and psychotherapy to residents of British Columbia and Ontario. Erica Harris is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC #26531) and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #20220). She is not a registered psychologist or physician and does not provide psychological or medical diagnosis, medication, or medical advice.
Not an emergency or crisis service
Rising Minds is not a crisis line or emergency service, and sessions are scheduled in advance. Virtual counselling is also not intended for people experiencing severe instability or an acute mental-health crisis, where in-person or emergency care is more appropriate.
Please note that while email is checked regularly for scheduling, it is not monitored in real time and must not be relied on during an impending or current crisis, emergency, or period of severe instability. At those times, go to your nearest hospital, call 911, or call or text 988 (Suicide Crisis Helpline) for mental-health support.
Eligibility
To receive services you must be located in British Columbia or Ontario at the time of your session. Services provided to a minor generally require the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian; however, under Canadian law a “mature minor” who is assessed as capable of understanding the nature and consequences of their care may consent to services on their own, without parental consent.
Booking, fees & payment
Sessions are booked and delivered through our secure third-party platform (NousTalk). Fees are as listed on the Services & Fees page and are due at the time of service. Sessions are not covered by MSP or OHIP; receipts are provided so you may seek reimbursement through extended-health benefits where your plan allows.
Cancellations
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed appointments, are charged the full session fee (100%).
Confidentiality
Your privacy is protected in accordance with professional and legal standards. Confidentiality has limits — including a risk of serious harm to you or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable person, and disclosures required by law such as a court order. How your information is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, to attend sessions from a private and safe location with a stable internet connection, and to engage in the process in good faith. Therapy is a collaborative process and your participation is central to it.
No guarantee of outcomes
Counselling and psychotherapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Effectiveness depends on many factors, including your engagement and circumstances, just as with in-person therapy.
Third-party platforms & links
Scheduling and sessions are provided through NousTalk, and payments may be handled by a third-party processor; your use of those services is also subject to their terms and privacy practices. This site may link to third-party resources for information only, and we are not responsible for their content.
Intellectual property
The content, design, and materials on this website are owned by Rising Minds and may not be copied or reproduced without our written permission.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent version, and continued use of the site or services constitutes acceptance of the current Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada.
